» NEWSFirst under 13 & 17 selection (Geelong) BAV players played very well at the 1st under 13 & 17 selection tournament in Geelong. Joy Lai & Darshand Gobinathan won all their singles, doubles and mixed doubles at the under 13. Ashwant Gobinathan & Louisa Ma won in the boys & girls singles, and Ashwant partner with Clifford Gan won their boys doubles. Congratulations and well done everyone. Posted on August 11, 2008 11:52 pmClean sweep at VIC team events championships Congratulations and well done to all BAV players to clean sweep the VIC team events championship which held yesterday at MSAC in under 11, 13, 15, 17 & 19. With this winning once again, proved it that it is possible to do it after these several years. Special thanks to all BAV inc. committees members, parents and coaches who made this happened. Posted on August 3, 2008 10:01 pmEugenia Tanaka to the Olympics in Beijing Ex BAV player Eugenia Tanaka will compete at the 2008 Beijing Olympics Games. Eugenia recently (in June 2008) with other BAV players (Victoria Na, Erica Pong, Shan Lim, Saliya Gunaratne, Einstein Tanaka, Boris Ma and Ashwant Gobinathan) helped BAV team to win the State Penant competition. Posted on 9:51 pmBAV players to the Youth Commonwealth Games in India Boris Ma, Victoria Na and Kashmira Gobinathan are going to represent Australia at the Youth Commonwealth Games in India, October this year. The Youth Games is for an under19 athletes in Commonwealth countries, featuring sports such as swimming, athletics, gymnastics, badminton, etc. Four boys and girls were selected to represent badminton in the Games, those other players are: Brendan Chu (WSBA), Eddie Hung (WA), Nathan David (Ballarat), Leanne Choo (SA) and Tara Pilven (Ballarat). Well done to Boris, Vicky and Kashmira, hopefully other BAV players will get inspired by them and follow their footsteps in the future. Posted on July 30, 2008 9:55 pmBAV players perfomed at the 7th Prime Minister’s Annual Dinner Boris Ma and Andrew Paulet performed a badminton display in front of 1200 people at the 7th Annual Prime Minister’s Dinner, on Saturday the 19th July. Many young talent from other sports such as wrestling, archery, gymnastics and weight lifting. Well done boys. Posted on July 22, 2008 4:55 amBAV players won the under 19 individual titles Congratulations to Boris Ma who reigned his boys singles titles he won last year at the C.P. Maddern under 19 carnival, in Geraldton (WA) which completed today. Boris’s younger sister Louisa Ma partner with Leanne Choo from South Australia won the ladies doubles titles, but Boris/Louisa combination in the mixed lost in the final against Samuel Ho/Leanne Choo. Another BAV player Kashmira Gobinathan lost in the final against Leanne Choo in two sets. Leanne Choo from South Australia dominated the tournament, and won three titles in singles, doubles and mixed. Well done Leanne. Final results in main draws Final results for plate events Victorian 1 won the C.P. Maddern team event Victorian State team number 1 team won the C.P. Maddern under 19 team event after yesterday beat Central New Zealand team. Featuring BAV players Boris Ma (winner of boys singles last year), Andrew Paulet, Kashmira Gobinathan, Louisa Ma and Quor-hui Teh, they won the team event final with 15-1 score. The VIC 1 team had been dominating throughout the team events this year. The VIC State team number 2 was on the7th position on their playoff after beating Northern New Zealand 2 by 10-6. Maddern carnival in 2008 (2 teams). Congratulations to all BAV players who will representing the State at the carnivals. The teams for the under 15 (BAV players will be in bold): Team 1 Team 2 The teams for the under 19 (BAV players will be in bold): Team 2 Under 11 & 19 VIC State titles BAV players won all titles at the under 11 and 19 VIC State titles last Saturday at MSAC. The State titles under 19 was the last selection tournament to get into the VIC State teams U19 for the C.P. Maddern carnival which will be held at Geraldton (WA) in July. Well done to everyone who played very well in the tournament, and thanks for all parents and BAV committees members who came and supported our players in the tournament.
